If your child is absent from school
The
child should present a note signed by the parent/carer to the class
teacher on the FIRST DAY of a child’s return to school. Please
contact the school if your child is going to be absent for a long
period and provide a note on the child’s return to school. All notes
are filed at school as part of the child’s attendance record. The
reason for absence needs to be stated in detail (eg. sick is not
acceptable – tonsillitis is acceptable).
Changes in student’s circumstances
If there is a change of address, telephone number or of family
circumstances, parents are asked to notify the school immediately in
writing so that records can be correctly maintained. This is MOST
IMPORTANT.
If your child is late for school
If your child misses any part of the school day, for instance by
being late or leaving early, a brief note must be given to the
Classroom teacher to explain the absence. Students must report to
the Fitzroy Street office to be given a late note. The teacher is
required to maintain a record of any absences, for either full days
or parts of a day, and to investigate any case where there have been
unexplained absences. The Home/School Liaison Officer will
investigate unexplained absences.
If your child wishes to leave the school during the day
Children are not permitted to leave the school grounds unless the
parent makes a WRITTEN request, or collects the child from the
school in person. Parents must report to the Fitzroy Street office
to be given a note to this effect to present to the classroom
teacher before they collect their child.
