School
Newsletter
Each Tuesday, our newsletter “SCHOOL NEWS” is sent home with the
eldest in the family and contains information about the
school, its programs and items of interest. Permission notes are
sometimes attached. Reports from the P.& C. association, canteen,
finance and other special committees are included. Please check your
child’s school bag and pockets to see that you get a copy.
Parent Committees
The purpose of the Parents and Citizens Association and the
A.S.S.P.A. (Aboriginal Student Support and Parent Awareness)
Committee is to give parents the opportunity to be involved in the
planning and achievements of school goals. This provides a unique
chance for parents to give support and input into their child’s
education.
Meetings are held at the following times each month:
 |
CANTEEN COMMITTEE
-
2nd Tuesday of the month at 2.00pm
|
 |
P.
& C. ASSOCIATION - 1st Wednesday of the month at 7.30pm
|
 |
A.S.S.P.A. COMMITTEE
- 1st Wednesday of every second month at 6.00pm
|
Notices of each meeting are given in the “School News”
School Canteen Committee
Volunteers are needed for the Canteen Roster to prepare student
lunches. Two shifts operate each day, 1st Shift 9.15am – 11.45am
and 2nd Shift 11.00am – 2.00pm. If you are able to help
please volunteer. All proceeds go to provide school equipment. It is
also a good way of meeting other parents and the school staff. Our
canteen supervisor, Mrs Ellen Stanmore, will make you most welcome.
Finance Committee
A Finance Committee comprised of representatives of the P & C and
school staff meets as required. This committee reviews school
financing, examines proposed budgets and recommends suitable action
to be taken by the parent committees. Your ideas and suggestions to
improve educational opportunities at our school will be welcomed.
General School Contributions
 |
With the agreement of this school’s community there has been a
General School Contribution Scheme operating for a number of
years.
|
 |
Funds raised through this contribution have been used to
supplement and support educational resources and programs in our
school.
|
 |
The general school contribution in the form of a donation to the
school’s building fund is currently set at $30 per child per year
and is tax deductible.
|
 |
Material Costs – Each year parents are asked to contribute a
material cost for the purchase of a variety of resources such as
text books, scripture fees and portfolio folders, life education
van, dictionary, etc.
|
Parents will be advised of arrangements for next year early in the
new school year.
Communication with Parents
The staff of this school strongly believes in a close working
relationship with parents regarding the academic performance, social
development and behaviour of students. Interviews are requested
throughout the year if the need is apparent. All parents are
provided with the opportunity to have a parent/teacher interview at
the end of Semester One.
