General Playground
Rules
Loitering in the vicinity
of, or playing in the toilet blocks is forbidden
Running is not permitted on
verandas and in hallways
Football (touch football only) and
soccer can be played on grassed areas only, (infants bottom
terrace and primary top terrace) provided the playing of such
games will not interfere with other games.
Balls are to be retrieved from
outside the school grounds only at teacher’s direction
No hard balls are to be used near
buildings or on assembly area
Balls or other items lodged on
buildings, are to be removed by the General Assistant at a
suitable time
Riding of bicycles and scooters in
the playground is prohibited
All play must cease at the bell to
end each recess and lunch. The children then go to the
appropriate lines to await the teacher’s direction
Children are not permitted in
classrooms, corridors or vestibules unless accompanied by a
teacher except to deposit school cases and loose outer clothing
when they come to school. Loitering is not permitted
Taps and basins in vestibules are
for use during lesson times under teacher supervision. They are
not to be used for drinking
During Terms 1 and 4 the rule “No
Hat, No Play” is to be enforced. Those children without hats are
to sit in a quiet, shady area in the playground in which they
are playing.
Teachers are responsible for
leaving the area they are supervising clean at the end of their
duty.

Both car parks.
The front lawns unless accompanied
by a teacher or with a teacher’s permission for a specific

The bike racks except for those who
are depositing or collecting their bicycles

Ask a teacher before leaving the playground to get a ball

Bicycles:
Bicycle riders are to enter and leave the school via the Fitzroy
Street gate.
Bicycles are not to be ridden in the school grounds except when
entering or leaving the grounds when they may be ridden sensibly to
the Fitzroy Street gate.
Bicycles are to be stored in the racks provided.
Pupils depositing bicycles in the bicycle rack must leave the area
immediately. No loitering is allowed near the bicycle area.

Teachers are required to be at
school and to sign on no later than 8.40am.
Teachers are required to remain for
meetings after school
Wet Weather
All children are to remain in their classrooms. Each building is
to arrange suitable supervision. In the event of approaching
rain, a rain bell of 2 rings will sound, indicating a prompt
return to the classroom. The Executive Teacher will be
responsible for this decision
It is necessary for all teachers to
realise the need for allowing children outside to play.
The
K– 6 Playground policy
necessitates consistency.
Variation from routine school times
No children to leave school early without permission from a
parent or caregiver
Parents must report to the Fitzroy Street office to obtain a
note of early departure
Parents are informed of variations
to supervision in respect of changes to routine (eg. sporting
fixtures, school fetes etc).
