TRAVEL TO AND FROM SCHOOL

Parking in the bus zone or double parking will not only get you fined, it might cause an accident by preventing oncoming drivers from seeing children using the crossings.

bullet DO NOT PARK OR STOP IN THE BUS ZONE OR THE AREA BEFORE THE CROSSING
bullet DO NOT DOUBLE-PARK
bullet DO NOT USE THE STAFF CAR PARK AS A DROP OFF OR COLLECTION POINT
bullet DO NOT ALLOW YOUR CHILD TO WALK THROUGH THE STAFF CAR PARK
bullet DO NOT PARK IN THE STAFF CAR PARK

Bus travel
All children in the Infants Department and those children in the Primary Department, who live outside a radius of 1.6 kilometres from the school, are entitled to travel to school on special school buses free of cost. Primary children who live within the radius may use the bus, but must pay to do so.

Free bus passes
Children travelling free on the school buses must have a Bus Pass which they must show EACH TIME they get on the bus. THE PASS ALLOWS THEM TO TRAVEL BETWEEN THEIR HOME AND SCHOOL. It does not allow them to travel anywhere else e.g. to a babysitter’s place. If the child does not show the Bus Pass, or does not have it, the child may be required to pay for the journey.

How to get a free bus pass
Applications for bus passes are available at the Fitzroy Street office. Once they are completed they are returned to the school to be certified and then sent to the bus company who issue the ticket with the child’s name on it. Special care must be taken of this ticket as it will be forfeited if abused.

What to do if a child loses/damages a free bus pass
Special care should be taken of the free bus passes. If the pass is lost or damaged, the child may be required to get a new one from the bus company. The Dubbo Bus and Coachlines at present charge an $11.00 fee to re-issue tickets. The bus pass is sent to the child’s home address.

Coming to School
Dubbo Bus and Coachlines – telephone 6882 2900, transports those who live in Dubbo, and those who live on the Old Dubbo Road and Firgrove Estate.  Orana Coaches – telephone 6882 8977, will tell you where the bus will stop to collect your child, and the time it will be at the stop.  The children alight at Fitzroy Street and can then make their way to their area. Once inside the school grounds, they are not permitted to leave until they catch their bus.

Going home: Country Buses & out of zone Buses
These buses leave from the Fitzroy Street Bus Stop. Children must be quick leaving their class and going to the Bus Stop as buses pick up from other schools and run to a tight schedule.

Dubbo South & Eschol Buses
Leave the DALTON STREET Bus Stop each afternoon and then let children off at various bus stops. The time your child will arrive can be obtained from the Bus company/driver.

Bus Lines
Children catching buses must join the bus lines IN THE SCHOOL PLAYGROUND and wait for the teacher’s instructions. The children are to WALK to the bus AFTER IT HAS STOPPED. Any misbehaviour in bus lines, or while on the bus may cause the child to be removed from the bus and the free travel pass be withdrawn.

Bicycles
Primary children may ride their bikes to and from school. Entrance and exit for bike riders is ONLY via the Fitzroy Street gate.  Children in Kindergarten to Year 2 do not ride bicycles to school.
